Prolift Supporting Grassroots GAA Through U15 Féile Sponsorship
Monday 9th March 2026
At Prolift Handling, our work is rooted in supporting industries that keep Ireland moving — from construction and manufacturing to logistics and infrastructure. However, beyond the day-to-day operations of lifting and material handling, there is a strong recognition within our team of the importance of supporting the communities in which we operate.
Grassroots sport plays a central role in Irish life. Whether it’s on local pitches, school grounds, or club facilities, it provides young people with opportunities to develop not only physical skills but also discipline, teamwork, and resilience. These are qualities that extend far beyond sport and into everyday life.
Recently, Prolift had the opportunity to support a local U15 Féile team through a fundraising initiative aimed at securing new gear for the players. This initiative came through a connection within our own team, making it a particularly meaningful project for us to be involved in.
The team includes the son of our service engineer, Ciaran Clarke, and through this connection, we were given the opportunity to contribute towards ensuring the players were properly equipped for the competition. Supporting initiatives like this allows us to stay connected to the people behind our business — not just as employees, but as members of wider communities.
Rather than viewing sponsorship purely as a marketing activity, we see it as a practical way to support local development. Small contributions at the right time can make a meaningful difference, particularly at youth level where resources are often limited.
Preparing for the Féile: More Than Just Competition
The Féile is one of the most important events in the youth GAA calendar. It brings together teams from across regions to compete in both Gaelic football and hurling, creating an environment that combines competition with community and shared experience.
For U15 players, participation in the Féile represents a significant milestone. It is often the first time they compete at a higher level outside their immediate locality, and preparation for the event requires commitment from players, coaches, and families alike.
In this case, the team had been preparing across both codes — football and hurling — which adds an additional layer of effort and organisation. Balancing training schedules, matches, and school commitments requires discipline from young players and strong support from coaches and parents.
One of the key aspects of preparation is ensuring that players are properly equipped. Having the right gear not only supports performance but also contributes to team identity and confidence. When a team steps onto the pitch in matching, high-quality kit, it reinforces a sense of unity and pride.
The fundraising effort for this team was focused on achieving exactly that — ensuring that every player had access to new gear ahead of the competition. This is where Prolift was able to step in and support, helping to bridge the gap and ensure the team was fully prepared.
While equipment alone does not determine results, it plays a role in setting the standard and creating a professional environment for young players. It also reflects the effort that has gone into preparing for the competition, both on and off the pitch.
A Team Effort: Players, Coaches, and Support Networks
Success at any level of sport is never the result of individual effort alone. Behind every team is a network of people contributing in different ways — coaches organising training sessions, volunteers managing logistics, and families supporting players throughout the season.
This particular U15 team demonstrated strong commitment across both football and hurling during their Féile campaign. Competing in two codes requires adaptability and a high level of fitness, as well as the ability to switch focus between different styles of play.
The role of coaches is particularly important at this stage. Beyond developing skills, they are responsible for creating an environment where players can grow, learn, and perform under pressure. Their work often goes unnoticed, but it is essential to the development of young athletes.
Equally important are the support networks around the team. Parents and guardians invest significant time and effort, from transporting players to training sessions and matches to supporting fundraising initiatives such as this one.
In this context, sponsorship is not just about providing financial support — it becomes part of a wider collective effort. Contributions from local businesses, community members, and supporters all combine to create the conditions that allow teams to participate and compete.
For Prolift, being involved in this process provided valuable insight into the level of organisation and commitment required at grassroots level. It reinforces the importance of recognising and supporting these efforts wherever possible.
Strengthening Connections Beyond the Workplace
One of the most meaningful aspects of this initiative was the connection to our own team. Supporting a project linked to our service engineer Ciaran added a personal dimension that goes beyond typical sponsorship activity.
It highlights the fact that businesses are ultimately made up of people, each with their own connections, families, and communities. When opportunities arise to support those networks, it strengthens relationships both within the organisation and externally.
Thanks to Ciaran for giving us the opportunity to support his son’s team. It allowed us to contribute in a way that was directly connected to someone within our own team, making the initiative more relevant and impactful.
This type of involvement also reflects a broader approach to how we engage with our community. Rather than focusing solely on large-scale initiatives, there is value in supporting smaller, local efforts where contributions can have a direct and visible impact.
Looking ahead, we see continued opportunities to support similar initiatives, whether through community sponsorships, local partnerships, or involvement in events that align with our values.
While our core focus remains on delivering high-quality lifting and material handling solutions, it is equally important to recognise the role we can play beyond our immediate industry. Supporting grassroots sport is one way of doing this — contributing to the development of young people and the communities they are part of.
